Industrial/Commercial/Institutional Projects
Kingston/Galloway Pool

We
were awarded a contract by the Metropolitan Toronto Housing Authority to address the lack of fresh air in a
public pool. The existing de-humidifier had failed and the manufacturer
was out of business. We designed a new system with a Dry-o-tron
dehumdification system and an air-to-air heat exchanger to de-humidify
pool air and to provide fresh air as needed economically. The heat of
rejection was used to heat the pool water.
235 Carlaw Ave.

This
is an industrial building in the downtown area. We were retained by the
owners to design the mechanical, electrical and life
safety systems required to convert the building to ‘live-work’
spaces.
The Anglican Church of St. Margaret

This
historic church has a steam heating system. Both the boiler plant and the
steam distribution system required renewal. Weinstein Taylor and
Associates prepared drawings for the existing distribution system and
engineered the renewal of the heating system.
Donevan Recreation Centre

We
were retained by the City of Oshawa to design a replacement fire alarm
system for this recreation centre, which includes a pool and an ice rink
as well as administrative and community use areas. The system features a
2-stage system to avoid having to evacuate the pool to the outside in cold
weather in the case of false alarms. We also managed the construction on
behalf of the City.
Humbervale Christian Outreach

Weinstein
Taylor and Associates was hired to correct some of the heating and air
conditioning problems that had plagued this building since its
construction. The building houses a seniors’ residence, a school, a
church and an extensive recreation area. Our investigation showed errors
in the ductwork design, the re-heat coils, the piping and pumping
arrangement and in the controls. We engineered the correction of these
problems.
Dylex

The Dylex Distribution Centre is a quarter million square foot
warehouse. We were retained to design a heating and ventilation
system for the warehouse. Our design featured rooftop units with
economizers and high capacity pivoting drum louvres for economical air
distribution with accurate pattern control. We also engineered an efficient
exhaust system for the battery charging area.
Fairmount Books

Weinstein
Taylor and Associates was hired to do the complete design and project
management for this 32,000 sq. ft. warehouse. With Stephen Langmead, our
in-house architect, we prepared architectural, mechanical and electrical
drawings, expedited site plan approval, assisted the owner to hire a
contractor and supervised construction. The warehouse features automated
bi-level lighting and infrared heating.
Michaels of Canada

Michaels
is a craft and home decorating mega store. With Stephen Langmead, our
associated architect, we created the base store specifications for their
Canadian expansion. We designed 22 of the 26 stores they opened across
Canada. Particular attention was paid to air quality, colour balanced
lighting and Direct Digital control (DDC) building automation with central
control from their Toronto head office.
